PATTERN TV101 - Bustle Petticoat (Original Version)
Most every one seems to do just fine with this pattern until the time to put in the boning. The following diagram will hopefull help clear up the confusion. This diagram does not show the bulk of the petticoat, due to my lack of drawing skills, but should give you an idea.
We now have a revised version of this pattern which greatly simplifies the whole boning issue.
General comments for this pattern:
1. Sew the bias tape channels onto the correct side of the fabric. The bias tape is usually stronger than the fabric and may help the bustle be more durable.
2. On the inside of the bustle, at the middle of the top boning chanel, sew in a small loop of bias tape. The 4th bone can then pass through this loop, and you will not need to sew the bones together at this point. (this will be just one of the revision I am planning)
